Toto I don't think we're in Michigan anymore!

Glitter shoes have been all the rage lately and I have been dying to get in on the trend. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any that fit right, that are easy to walk in and are the right color. All the heels I have tried on have been platform heels that just don't work in the snow. After getting inspired by I am Style-ish and her glitter everything post I decided to try my hand at glitterfying some shoes!

 What you need:
Paint Brush
Modge Podge
Modge Podge Sealer
Glitter (I used Martha Stewart brand)
Shoes (I got these on sale form Target and just haven't worn them at all, they were too plain for me)

  • The first step is to mix your modge podge, I used an old butter dish and just kind of eyeballed how much glitter to glue ratio. You want enough so that none of the shoe shows through.

  • Next just brush on the mix to the shoes with your brush, I chose to paint the entire heel and some of the bottom so that practically the whole shoe was glittery.
Here are the shoes wet after the first coat
  • Let the first coat dry completely before applaying the next coat
Shoe dry after the first coat
  • I then applied the second coat. I only did two coats because I like the look after two but you can do as many or as little as you like.
  • After the second coat was dry I then sprayed three coats of sealer on each shoe. The sealer helps to keep water from damaging your modge podge. You MUST do this step either outside or in a very well ventilated area. This stuff smells!
  • Tada! When the sealer is dry you are all set to go!

Here is an under shot, I got the whole heel and a lot of the bottom, just personal preference. I like to add as much glitter as possible!

I will wear them this week for sure to show you all some on the foot shots! After I tried them on the first time I couldn't help but click my heels together and say "There's no place like home!"
