A trip through the Hundred Acre Wood

Just a fun little photo shoot in the woods behind my house. I liked that  the sun was almost setting giving it a glow. This was an outfit I kind of threw together with no specific theme in mind.

Outfit Details:
            • Skirt: Forever 21
            • Cardigan: Old Navy
            • Shirt: Target
            • Purse: Big Buddah Brand, I got this purse 70% off! Such a steal

Classic Chic

I'm always on the search for simple, classic pieces. This empire waisted top definitely fits the bill. I love the large snaps and the stiff fabric. I found this at a thrift store and it was originally from Forever 21. I paired it with the preppiest, most classic pieces I have, pearl earrings, nautical bag and dark skinny jeans. Sometimes the understated and simple outfits are the best!

A little sunshine and flowers

What a wonderful day to be outside, again I'm wearing an outfit that showcases my favorite garment, the high-waisted skirt. I love the idea of mixing a floral pattern with the floral texture in my lace shirt. It brings interest to the outfit without being overpowering. I finished the whole thing off with some added glitz with my gold chain clutch and DIY glitter shoes. The gold and pink earrings are a recent purchase from H&M and the bauble ring is from Forever 21. Have a great weekend!!

Is it cold out there?

Ok, so this is a jacket post. I know, I know it is finally summer and why are you showing me jackets? Well, all I can say is that it is because I love coats and jackets and when you live in Michigan you have to always be prepared for the ever changing weather. It might be 80 degrees in the daytime, but evenings and nights can still get down in the 40s...so that is the long winded explanation of the post. So to the jackets, I got both of these about three years ago at Forever 21. I think of them as Spring/Fall jackets since they are not super insulating. I absolutely love the green trench since it is my favorite color and I wear it probably the most over any of my other jackets. The red and black jacket is a little harder to explain and that is the exact reason why I like it! I love finding unique pieces, sometimes just to have them in my closet. Overall, these are two great options for a casual chilly day or dressed up for an evening out. The shoes are Steve Madden and the clutch is Coach.

Girls gotta have some fun!

No matter how old I get every time I put on a romper I feel like a little kid again. This one especially with a cute pattern and a bow on the front. I choose to accent this outfit with gold, light brown, and turquoise accessories. The scarf on my purse is silk and I dyed it myself!

If only....

I haven't had many opportunities to dress up lately, but this outfit would be the perfect ensemble for a day to night event for a warm summer day and cool evening. The dress is from American Eagle and just to show that a cotton summer dress can be styled up for a more formal event I paired it with some satin Jessica Simpson pumps, a gold clutch, a thrifted costume pearl necklace and a fur jacket. I absolutely love the idea of creating a dressed up or dressed down look with anything you have in your closet.

Another late weekend post: Mother's Day Edition

A nice weekend spent at home with my mom for Mother's Day! We went to brunch,  for a walk, and  kayaking. It was a wonderfully sunny day, but I had to plan an outfit that worked for all three activities...I decided on a comfortable cotton sundress with a navy long cardigan that I could take off when it got warmer. That's all and good, but what I really want to talk about are my new Crocs. Now I do not nor have I ever worked for Crocs, I just love them! I currently have four pairs of Crocs and none of them look like those wretched ugly things they came out with in the beginning of their brand. Mine are boots, flats and sandals and they have even more variation of styles on their website with wedges and heels and much, much more. My new pair are gladiator sandals and are so comfortable they feel like I'm not even wearing shoes! My mom also got a new pair that are just as comfortable with a more sporty flat style.

My mom and I both have tiny feet, but I like the display of our new shoes together!

This was the location of our great brunch. It's a golf course about 10 min from our house called Forrest Dunes.

And kayaking to end out the day, could it get any better?!

Guest Post with a Nautical Theme

Special Guest post today from one of my best friends, Sunidhi. She looked super cute on our last day of classes so she decided to share her outfit with everyone!!

I love the fun color-red for a lower garment and its from one of my favorite brands. It's very comfy, 100% cotton. The shirt is 100% cotton too and the best part about the shirt is it has stretch.  I love polka dots that was the biggest reason I bought it. However, my reason for buying red shorts was because colored pants (though its not pants but still a pair of shorts is a lower garment) are in this spring season. The scarf is silk and I thought was a good choice to spice up my outfit. All the things in my outfit except the shoes were gifts. The belt was a steal I think was around $3. Overall, I choose the red since it is my favorite color!
