And the rest is history....

Lots of back and forth across campus, which is not the best in heels. Oh well at least I looked cute! It seems that certain classrooms seem to be located in Siberia and some in the Sahara so my outfits have to be versatile. This tank cardigan combo was perfect!

Outfit Details:
Top, shoes, watch, and cardigan: Target
Red Jeans: American Eagle (They seems to have the best fitting pants for me consistently)
Hair: Thrown up messy

Going Up, Up and Away!

Another day at the office.....

I love finding great deals which should be pretty obvious by now.  The pants I am wearing I got for $10.00, sweater for $7.00 at TJ Maxx (LOVE that store) shoes were from Value city before they closed for $10.00 which have gotten a lot of use since I wore them almost everyday when I studied abroad in Paris.
The shirt I was saving for last because it was practically a steal!!!!! I got this from Old Navy for $1.97!!!!!

Finally working in my office.....

Just a little touch of color

Just a little touch of color to cheer up a rather gloomy day. I really like the idea of wearing black head to toe with pops of color, it seems professional and fashion forward to me for some reason.

Outfit Details:
Coat: Forever 21 a few years ago
Tribal sweater top: Thrifted a long time ago, I'm pretty sure it's vintage
Under shirt: Charlotte Russe (2 for $10 shirts are the best!)
Black Jeans, Watch, Bracelets, and Ring: Target
Boots: $10 at Rue 21, such a great deal!
Earrings: Forever 21
Hair: Another messy bun, I have to be on campus at 8am so I never really have time for much else

Here are some detail shots of the beading on my sweater

Study time

Study time at the library this weekend. There is nothing better than getting up early and heading to the library every Saturday and Sunday (sarcasm implied). Getting dressed up does make me feel better though and wearing a $2.00 sweater and $10.00 boots makes this outfit not only very cute but also a steal!
Enjoy the Oscars tonight!

Impromptu distracting photo shoots are the best!

Dressing up always makes me feel better, so even though I was just going to campus to work on homework as usual I wanted to feel good about myself.

Shirt is from Macy's on clearance for $10.00, sweater is from JC Penny also for $10.00 and boots and jeans were featured previously.

Me trying to get warm in the cold buildings during these horrible winter days.....

Baby it's cold outside.....

Even when the weather is awful, as a grad student that cannot keep you from campus!  So Jamie, me and three friends piled into Jamie's car and trecked through the snow to get our work done..... But that didn't mean we couldn't distract ourselves with a little photo shoot!

Me in one of my favorite coats (featured before), a pair of skinny jeans (also featured before) and my boots from Sam's club on clearance for $8.00, granted they were in the children's section, but that's the advantage of having small feet!

More snowy pictures of the winter wonderland outside on campus!

Wearing a circle scarf can have two benefits;
1. Keep your neck warm
2. Wear as a hood
Although as I keep telling Jamie there is a fine line between the old lady look and looking cute, so you have to make sure this look is executed in the right way.  This particular scarf was bought at H & M for $12.00.

Behind me is the mosquito, a sculpture on campus as we were told by a man walking by.  I have a hard time seeing it but its a really neat sculpture regardless!

A little bit of work, a little bit of art

So this is my outfit from yesterday inside hiding from all the snow falling. I wanted to be as warm as possible so with my layered tights I paired a sweater/skirt combo. I've been inspired lately by the 50s when ladies would wear tailored high-waited skirts over sweaters and cardigans, but of course I had to put my own spin on the whole idea.

Outfit Details:
  • Sweater: J.Crew from a couple years ago. I got this for Christmas from my sister-in-law and I absolutely love it! It doesn't stretch out like so many other sweaters I own and it is soft and not too bulky. It really is an ideal winter sweater.
  • Skirt and necklaces: Forever 21
  • Tights and boots: Target
  • Purse: Emma's Boutique (Mount Pleasant) More on this later, it's new and super cool!

Bye!

Winter Wonderland

Finally SNOW! We have had an unreasonably warm and snow less winter so far and I have to say that I have not been complaining. It was nice to wake up to some today though, it does look pretty especially from the inside. I broke out my long green pea coat from Old Navy and my cream hat/scarf/glove combo. I also double layered tights and added a pair of knee highs, I'm not going to let a few inches of snow deter me from wearing a skirt!

Study Sweater

One of the reason's I don't really like bulky winter sweaters is that I kinda think that they are shapeless and make me look fat. I remedied this problem today by using my champagne satin sash. I made the usual bow and pulled the gathers together in one area in the back. It made a slouchy comfy outfit look a little more pulled together!

Karl Lagerfeld is in the room people!!!!!

My Grandma and Grandpa, or as I call them Oma and Opa, (German names) got me this Karl Lagerfeld shirt recently and I LOVE it!!!!! I decided to wear it this week in class after it came up in discussion last week!

Me standing in Wightman wearing my Karl Lagerfeld paired with dark skinny jeans from Macy's clearance for $19.99 and boots from my parents for Christmas!

An up close of Karl!  Necklace was from last Christmas from my dad and has a bunch on rings threaded through a chain (one of my fav's!).  Hair is thrown half up since I had an 8:00 a.m. class so don't judge!

A close up of my boots!

Brilliant Bow Ties

Unless you have been living under a rock, you must have noticed one of the hottest trends reemerging is the bow tie. From hipster artists to celebs on the red carpet bow ties seem to be proving their versatility in any setting. They can be seen in silks, velvets, patterns, solids and metallics in any color or size.  My friend Iian has recently launched his own line of bow ties with many options including skinny, traditional and even pre-tied for all those guys who can't tie a regular tie let alone a bow tie! Check out his website here.

Iian Showing off one of his own designs in an everyday setting!

I gots the blues.......

"Well hello there!" Haha that's all I can think when I look at this picture and I also get flashes of some weird cop scenario....anyway today is considerably much better than yesterday and I think the sun has a little part in that! With no snow I am able to wear some pretty cute heels without the chance of falling on my butt and these booties are too cute to keep in the closet! Also who can turn down a sparkly beret, I mean c'mon!

Just taking some time to enjoy the scenery!

Sometimes Jamie and I need to get away from our school work and walk around to take pictures.  We decided to take these in the builiding across from Wightman since it has a a very traditional old look to it.

This is me in my leopard print sweater dress I just got from my mom for Christmas.  I paried it with a black vest cardigan that I ended up paying $1.00  for because it was $11.00 and I had a ten dollars off coupon at Kohl's!  I layered a gold wrap belt with this outfit that I got on clearance at Old Navy for $6.00, and my brown boots from Walmart that you can't really see, but I got them for $7.00!!!!!

Me staring out the window and thinking about all the things I have to get done before Jamie and I both graduate!!!!!

Ok so sometimes it's not always sunshine and rainbows

So today was not a good day, a cold mixed with some not so fun human interactions leads to a very angry Jamie. But I did have on my thrifted Mickey Mouse sweatshirt which did brighten my day a little bit!
Make sure to check out the blog tomorrow for some very cool fashion stuff from a friend of mine!

Hello?........Hello?

So one of the best things about working on campus all day is finding cool places to take styling pics. After wandering around and walking out of a stairwell this phone area appeared like an apparition! While goofing around for about five minuets with it on and off the hook there was a "Hello?...Hello?" on the other line. I instinctively threw the phone and ran, which is a testament to my weirdness and paranoia. But overall the pics turned out pretty cute, I got my heart rate up and I made Erica laugh which is always a plus.

Outfit Details:
Dress: Forever 21
Cardigan: Kohl's
Belt: Target
Shoes: Purchased at a boutique downtown, Emma's
Hair: Thrown up in a messy bun/pony due to early morning lateness...

One fine day...

Working in a computer lab with varying temps, weird sitting positions and an overall sleepy environment inspires me to be more comfortable than fashionable some days. And coffee is always a must in grad school, it has become my life's blood in the past few months. Here is some rather presentable work wear for an aspiring grad school graduate.

Outfit Details:
  • Peacoat- Old Navy purchased at an after Christmas sale a few years ago
  • Sweatshirt-Converse for Target
  • Tank-Charlotte Russe. These are the best tank tops ever, they are usually 2 for $10 or $15 and fit and feel fabulous. I wear one almost everyday!
  • Jeans-BDG Urban Outfitters purchased on sale for $20! These are my favorite jeans and unfortunately are wearing from abrasion in the inner leg area :(
  • Boots-Aldo
  • Purse-I think I got this from my mom or sister, not sure actually
  • Jewelery-Owl earring from Forever 21, assorted bracelets I have accumulated over the years.

Me and a fellow grad student Yvonne. She is one of the most fashionable people I know!

My hair was quite flippy....oh well
