Love is all about....whistles

I had the privilege of getting to see one of my favorite comedians last night, Bo Burnham with my friend Megan!! We had dreadful seats and Bo was a little crazy, but it was a great night. The overall highlight was giggling about the show on the way back to the car and then looking over to the tour bus and seeing Bo staring right at us!!! Oh Bo, we love you so... I decided to wear some new leopard print jeans for the occasion that I got on sale at Target and I wore my favorite Steve Madden ruffle heels to spice up the whole outfit.

Mixing Patterns

Another long day on campus and I decided to mix up some patterns...... This is usually a scary thing to do but if executed properly the look can turn out really cute!

For this look I am wearing a highwaisted skirt from Macy's, on clearance of course, for $19.99.  I love these types of skirts because they can hide all the unwanted curves and slim down your waist.  The shirt is also from Macy's clearance.  Boots are from Walmart which I have featured before but I lOVE saying I got them for 8 dollars!

Campus provided the perfect scenary for this photo shoot!

Have a fashionable day!!!!!

Spring Blooms

So this is not one of my favorite outfits, I would have like it much better if I had been able to actually do my hair instead of throwing it up..oh well! I really only posted these because I wanted to show everyone the beautiful trees. I wish they would stay like this all summer too because not only do they look beautiful, but they smell WONDERFUL! I'm pretty sure my entire outfit except the belt is from Target (my favorite store!)

Sneaking up on you!

I initially had a tan/coral combination going on yesterday, but after reconsidering I decided to try out some color blocking. I added some additional interest to the ensemble with my patterned Vera Bradley purse and embellished flats. After a long day of running around and writing a last minute paper we had some fun at Erica's place. We were trying to take some "Abby Road" shots and it turned out to just look like me sneaking up on Erica and then giggling about it. You always have to work in a little bit of fun into your day!
Outfit Details:
            • Dress: Forever 21
            • Cardigan, belt and earrings: Target
            • Purse: Vera Bradley

The end is near! (of grad school that is)

My last day of lecture in the class I teach after two years of grad school had finally come!  I wanted to dress up and still be warm for the crazy Michigan weather!

I am wearing pants from Sears that my dad picked out for $19.99, shirt from the limited that I got on clearance for $9.99 and sweater from Macy's that my grandma got me for $9.99!!!!! The long necklace is from the buckle and the short one is from my grandpa.

Shoes are from Walmart for $9.99 and they are so comfy!!!!! I used to have black ones but they got stolen in my suitcase in chicago, so when I found these about a year ago, I was sooooo excited!!!!!!

Too study or not to study..... that is the question!

Another day at the library and sometimes I just like to dress up to make myself feel a little better about missing a whole day of my life to a computer!

My shirt is from the AVON Mark line which you already know I just LOVE!!!!!  Skirt, I got on clearance from Walmart for $5.00! Necklace is from JCPenny and once I'm done with grad school I hope to make one similar (be on the lookout on the blog!).  I have paired the whole thing with leggings also from Walmart for $5.00!

Reaching for a book (more for the picture)!

My new boots are pictured here that I got from Maurices for $10.00 last week!!!!! It was such a good buy and I love them!

Have a fashionable day!!!!!

Career Fair

I had to speak at a career fair yesterday with Erica and then we got to do a little shopping after! I wore this outfit with a blazer and boots for the career fair and then switched this outfit up with a sweater and flats for the afternoon. It was VERY weird being back in a high school and it definitely brought back some memories. I bought the necklace at H & M and it completely worked with my outfit! Overall it was a nice day away from school with a good friend :)

Sometimes you just want to be comfy!

So heres another 8am class day and I never feel like getting up in time to get ready!  This outfit called for something comfy but yet cute since I had a long day ahead of me!

The sweater is from Old Navy clearance for $10.00 and is so comfortable and practicle at the same time!

My necklace that I got when I studies abroad in Paris.  Its always makes me feel pretty even if I am in just comfy clothes!

These shoes are so comfy!  I got them at payless about 5 years ago and not only have they held up, but they pretty much work with anything!

Have a fashionable day!!!!!

A day full of Marilyn moments!

I think I might have flashed about twenty people today....The wind was so crazy! I had to walk around holding my skirt down as fiercely as I could. There really isn't much you can do in that situation except for laugh at yourself, which I did frequently. This is another variation of my go to outfits: high waisted skirt, cute top, and flats. Although it was windy it was nice to be able to enjoy some of the nice spring flowers today, too bad they don't last long enough!

I decided to wear some mixed jewelery today. The bracelets are all friendship/leather wraps and the necklace was another thrift shop find!
I decided to crop this photo because you could practically see my whole bum. Now see what I mean about the Marilyn thing?!

If life was only fashion shows and sushi....

Great night last night, got to go out for sushi, go to a fashion show, and out for drinks. Seriously if this was my life I would the happiest girl in the world! But alas a girl can't just have fun all the time....

I wanted to dress up special for the show and wear my new sky high heels. I took some inspiration from Mini, a character from Skins UK. If you don't watch the show Mini is a queen bee and very bossy. She always is wearing heels and some kind of crazy outfit that somehow just works for her. Now I know I don't look like Mini at all, but I did want to try out her signature curls to one side and a little bit of thrown together fashion.

Outfit Details:
          • Skirt: H & M, last worn here
          • Shirt: Vintage form my mom
          • Shoes: Target
          • Purse: Kohl's, I actually used this purse for a formal in high school

Ugh, sorry about that gross scar again

Poised Peplum

 Outfit Details:
          • Jeggins, Cardigan, and Peplum Blouse: Target
          • Shoes: Carlos Santana
          • Purse: Coach
          • Belt: DIY from Love Maegan
Peplum tops and dresses have been popping up everywhere and looking in my closet I realized I actually had one. I bought this last spring at Target, but had only worn it once or twice since it is short sleeved and I kind of think it should be paired with skinny jeans (just a weird opinion). I also haven't worn these heels much either. I bought them online at the end of the summer and then couldn't really wear them in the cold or my feet would freeze! I finally dreamed up an outfit that would combine both of these pieces into one cute, funky outfit that would fit nicely with the weather we have been having (50-60 degrees and sunny).

Have a good Saturday!!

Boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses...

Outfit Details:
            • Dress: Forever 21
            • Cardigan: Target
            • Purse: Coach
            • Glasses: Fossil
This is one of my favorite outfits, I actually wear this or a version of this outfit a lot so I was surprised that I don't have any outfits with this dress/cardigan combo featured yet. I again am wearing the mustard color in my dress pattern, shoes and cardigan (like I said yesterday I like this color!) Some people don't like to be too matchy, but not me. I love to coordinate colors and patterns to make everything look cohesive. This is both a blessing and a curse. I like the put-together look but it does prevent me form throwing some things on quickly and walking out the door. Today I decided to top this outfit off with my glasses. I have had to wear my glasses more since last summer because I had ulcerations on my cornea. Some days I just can't wear my glasses, they do make me feel a little more frumpy and lets face it I sometimes feel like a librarian. With this outfit I decided to embrace it and just wear the glasses and then head to the library to study, full on librarian style. I remembered as I was pondering this librarian/glasses issue that old saying "Boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses" and I just laughed. At his point in my life I could really care less if a guy makes a pass or not, I like my glasses and that is all that is really important.

Textures

Haha "Textures" always reminds me of The Seven Year Itch. Innocent acting Marilyn talking about driftwood, sand and skin...it is just too funny! Leather, velvet, cable knits, ruffles, gems and metal are all  textures of this outfit. I like the idea of mixing interesting pieces that might be a little more simple but that have something different about them. A perfect example of this would be my leggings, they are gray leggings and are a pretty normal piece of clothing, but this pair is velvet. C'mon that is pretty cool! I also have been wearing a lot pieces that are this cool mustard yellow color, I use them pretty much as a neutrals and mix it with more interesting prints.
